Initial Consultation
An initial consultation appointment is necessary to meet your specialist, review your reason for referral, assess your medical history and note any medications or other treatment that you are on or have received in the past. We complete a thorough examination, review X-rays and other test results you may have and then make a diagnosis. We may elect to request further imaging or blood tests to assist us in ensuring the correct diagnosis and management of your condition.
Once a diagnosis has been made, we will thoroughly discuss this with you and consider available treatment options, should intervention be indicated. This may include a surgical procedure, management advice, medical management, non-surgical adjunctive measures, review appointments to monitor progression or referral to a different specialist. Costing for treatment will be discussed and relevant codes for your health fund will be provided.
In certain situations, we may treat you on the same day following the initial consultation. Please enquire with booking staff if you wish to have treatment on the same day, as well as the tentative costs involved and the need for aftercare arrangements.
When attending your initial appointment, please bring along the following information:
Current referral from your practitioner (not older than 12 months)
Current X-rays and scans if applicable
Health insurance and Medicare details
A list of medications you are presently taking
Patient registration can be found here to speed up your appointment
