Your Anaesthetists
Contact your anaesthetist prior to your surgery to discuss any concerns or medication. On the day of your surgery, you will meet your anaesthetist before your procedure. They will talk to you about the type of anaesthetic they will administer and about any specific problems or concerns you have. Our anaesthetists are specialists and highly experienced in their field.
The most common risks associated with a general anaesthetic are adverse drug reactions, post-operative nausea and vomiting, damage to teeth during intubation and cardiac reactions on the table. We will manage any complication as they arise and for which our highly skilled hospital team, is trained for. It is essential that you are honest on your health questionnaire, consent to resuscitation and blood transfusion or alternatively discuss your advanced care directive with the surgeon, anaesthetist and hospital staff.
