Hanlie Engelbrecht
Specialist Oral Surgeon
Hanlie completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pretoria and her postgraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She completed a Fellowship in Craniofacial Cleft Surgery at the Pretoria Craniofacial Cleft Clinic, the largest Cleft Clinic in Africa.
She relocated to Melbourne in 2013 and is registered in Australia as a specialist Oral Surgeon. Aside from practicing at Hawthorn Specialist Clinic, Hanlie is the senior Oral Surgeon at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a consultant at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and lectures and supervises dental students and specialists-in-training from the University of Melbourne.
Hanlie is passionate about all aspects of Oral Surgery, especially about the aesthetic rehabilitation of patients who have lost teeth. Seeing confident smiles restored, is her aim. Her current research is focused on the management of Osteonecrosis of the jaws.
Outside of work, Hanlie loves spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures.
